As mentioned in another post I have been trying to strike a deal for the Spendors to replace my Dali`s but had this reply from the dealer I was bargaining with.

"The biggest issue would be that it is not really a jump in performance. Both speakers are in and around the same quality level although both have there own unique sound. To get a reasonable jump in performance to make it cost effective to change you would need to go a higher model of speaker. Changing to A6 will cost you money but not really give you any better quality in sound."

I found that to be an honest answer although some cynics might say he is looking for me to spend more money. Now I was under the impression that the Spendors and other speakers at that price point would be a fair step up from the Dali`s going from reviews etc. but would be interested to hear others opinions.
I feel my current system could take a speaker upgrade at around the £2000 mark but if it would just be different rather than better, not much point, maybe realise that I`ve got pretty much as good as it gets at my level and save my money!

I think from my brief listen of the A5's, they are a more refined speaker, giving an extra air of realism to the sound but the sacrifice will be the verve from your current speakers will be somewhat dampened. So it depends if that difference in presentation is welcomed by you or not I think

I think the dealer was being honest with you. Although they're not spoken about much anymore, your speakers are superb. I think their reproduction of vocals and mid-range are outstanding, so I can completely understand that you might have to spend a lot more than two grand to better them.

I'm in a similar boat with my speakers. The only ones that i've heard that have them beat are the Mordaunt short Performance 6, and they're £3500. As my Rogers cost me less than £200, I think i'll stick!

Personally, I wouldn't expect any £1k speaker to be 'just a bit different' to a £2k one. If you pick the best £1k and worst £2k maybe yes, but we're not talking about the worst £2k speaker here.

The only problem here is the K2, and whether it'll get the most out of a £2k speaker - I think not. It's not an amp I'm keen on myself, I just find it a little lacklustre. There is also some stiff petition around the £2k mark when it comes to speakers, so try a few more if you haven't already.

The best thing you can do is audition the A6's with a K2 and see what you think - you're the important one here, not the dealer.

Well speaking from my own experience, i would say that the A6 are fantastic speakers, my amp is only 36 watts and can drive them to very loud levels without any clipping or distortion, i would think that the Roksan at 120 watts would have no problem, but then again it is an integrated, mine is pre-power. Don,t know much about integrated amps but i don,t think rated power is everything to go by.
