Integrating a recorder into a hifi system

Does anyone have any advice on integrating some form of a recorder into a hifi system? This could be some sort of hard drive, or removable media (e.g. a cd). Ideally this would connect to an output from the amp, so would record whatever source was playing.

Back in the day, tape decks were integrated into systems so wondered if there was a modern solution to this?
