Hello,

I have Monitor Audio GS10 loudspeakers and a Marantz SA-11S2 CD player. Can anyone give me a strong recommendation for an integrated amplifier to match with these. I am considering the Marantz PM-11S2...any thoughts how these would perform as a trio? Cables?

Much thanks, Peter

Naturally, I would recommend a matching PM11S2 integrated amplifier. Regarding cables, I would recommend cables from The Chord Company. Dan.

Hi - I can not comment much on the combination but more or Marantz PM-11. I had the S1 version which was extremely detailed and even more analytical. I keep reading the definitions across forums in otehr places which say Audiophile as the one is very detailed and revealing and does not care much about musicality. The PM-11 is a perfect audiophile amp from that definition. It is very very detailed, Powerful and well-built.

I doubt that the sound character of S2 is much different from S1.

I used GS60 with a pair of PMs (S1 series). An excellent match. I used Kimber copper cables (8tc).

Since that time, I upgraded the speakers and split the amplifier into pre and power, but Marantz CD player is stil there ... no wish to sell for now.

That Marantz-MA combination works very well from my 2 year experience wih them. Go ahead.

Thanks for the insights, I feel that the musicality of an amp should certainly trump it's ability to be analytical. But given the correct setup....I would hope the PM might be somewhat flexible in its' analytical ways. Some people say this 'analytical' or 'clinical' approach is more common in Japanese amplifiers over say, British or Amercian ones. Whereas the Brits for example provide more 'feeling'. Thoughts?
