Hi I am in the process of putting together a home cinema and need some advice.

After much hunting around I purchased an IN78 for ~800GBP, so now the question is what to use as a source for it?

Would the Samsung HD870 be a good option?

I will be using it in a 4.6m x 4.6m room, and plan to sit about 3.5m from the screen. The room will not be completly blacked out, so do I go for a screen with high gain or what?

Also doing some calculations on screen size it looks like 100inc is going to be the size required, as the projector will be around 4.2m from the screen.

Any suggestions on screens? I am happy to have a fixed screen, so as to get as high a quality screen as possible for the money.

Thanks

Great though the budget Samsung is, it's better paired with smaller flatscreens - a projector is ruthless at highlighting picture flaws, so i'd head further up the DVD foodchain. Something like the Denon DVD-1740 or DVD-1940 would be ideal - I believe there are bargains on both if you shop around.

High-gain screens are great if you - like me - aren't using your projector in a fully blacked-out room. The caveat is you do lose some contrast, and some models aren't brilliant for off-axis viewing (not an issue if you watch head-on).

I'd shop around and see some screens in action/the 'flesh' - what some people consider acceptable designs for fixed screens others can't stand (for example, I love my 80in black-gloss Planar Xscreen high-gain screen, but it's certainly not subtle, as many visitors have commented. Until I put the football/movie on, of course; then they shut up
