In my opinion......

I have just auditioned the pioneer vsx2020 against the Onk 808, with arcam bdp100/pioneer bdp320. I liked the onk a great deal and i was initially impressed, but the pioneer blew me away.. I watched various scenes from master and commander and saving private ryan and for musicality i used metallica s&m. The detail on screen was far greater with the pioneer, black detail much more discernible and the soundstage awesome in comparison. It was tom hanks nervous breathing as the tiger tank stops at the end of the street in scene 16 that got me. Visually when the guys are preparing the machine gun in the church tower, the chewing gun scene 16, who needs 3D, incredible detail and depth of field depicted. Master and commander scene 31 before engagement with the Bellerephon, the midshipmen nervously chat between decks, hairs stood on end at the back of my neck, what followed, awesome detail........I felt I was there..

The Pioneer is an incredible machine, yes I know, the onk is the mags champ, but for me there is one clear winner-love the pioneer, in fact im picking one up from audio t in Portsmouth for £899.

Thanks guys at audio t portsmouth for your patience and great service! They are lending me an arcam 100 for weekend when i get back from australia in december, wow, cant wait

Not to take anything away from the Onkyo, Pioneer have emerged to be a very strong force as far as AV receivers are concerned. Cracking amps, particularly the SCLX83.
