Which one would you recommend to buy out of these two TV's. Simple as that really. Both are similarly priced, with broadly similar features. The Sony has motionflow 400pro for perhaps better sports viewing? And the Samsung is only 8mm thin, with an innovative remote control. I can't decide and need some help please.

The Sony seems to get a quite a few average reviews on the internet.

Although I wouldnt and in fact didnt get the C9000- the C8000 is much better in terms of value.

I think Sony have a made a mistake with the optional 3d ir transmitter. The ir transmitter on my sammy is just a small barely noticeable round led in the bottom left corner of the thin frame. Why Sony need a whole addon-bar is a mystery.

But u need to have a viewing before u buy 1.

Yes, I am a bit confused about the Sony reviews.

Most of the reviews either say it is excellent (What HiFi Sound and Vision) but expensive when you add the wifi, 3D glasses etc. Then the other reviews say it is only average 'because' it is expensive when you add all the peripherals.

Like us all, I just want the best product for what I am willing to spend.

Looked at the Samsung C8000 in Superfi. Does look very good, and you are right in terms of very good value.

For what its worth i have just purchased a Samsung UE55C7000 and despite minor flaws i am finding it to be a superb set, even my wife commented on how good the picture looks compared to our older Panasonic TH42PZ800. We will see how if fairs over a few months.

One thing i did find is that the only difference between the 7000 model and the 8000 model is the Aluminium finish, so we managed to save a few bob as my wife preferred the black one.

Cheers for that Mark8. That is good to know about the difference between the 7000 and 8000 as I also prefer the Black finish. Would you say the 9000 model is better though?

Hard to say really as you would expect so with the price difference. Have a look on the Samsung website and compare the 2, there is a page where you can compare them.

Like i said i am very impressed with this TV though the picture is spot on. I was initially going to buy a Panasonic VT20 3D but ended up puting a bid on this at a charity auction. I was a little tipsy at the time though.

have you made a decision yet on which one you will go for? what about the Philips 9705. Had you considered this model as an option. I am in the same boat - as I am sure many are. Lack of availability, lack of sets to physically view and test, lack of direction on which is best!

Had not looked at the Phillips, but just read the specs and looks impressive.

I think I am leaning towards the Sony, but not really sure why.

I like the samsung UE46C9000, especially as it is so thin, gets good reviews for picture quality, and has a very cleaver remote control with a mini screen on, but I don't like the silver screen surround. For a TV with a rrp of about £5000, the fact you can get it for about £2700 sounds like a good deal to me though, so am tempted by its price.

The sony on the other hand is regarded by most as very overpriced, especially when you add the wifi, 3D glasses etc, but by all accounts has a great picture, and having owned previous Sony, I am stupidly swayed by brand loyalty.

I think my decision will end up being dictated by what will be available when I make my mind up at the end of the month. (Sony have said it should be available by then, but not sure it will be)

Which one would you buy then? Samsung UE46C9000, sony KDL46HX903 or the Phillips 9075?

The problem is we have to rely on other peoples reviews all the time and can't just see the tv's lined up against each other.

I placed an order for the Sony a few weeks ago and am assured it will be here by the end of September (ummm we'll see).

I too was grabbed by the possible savings on the Samsung. Is there a reason why it is being offered at such a reduced price! was it ever worth £5k!? The fact that it is edge lit and not full back lit LED is a possible reason why the Sony may be a better option. It's easy to get sucked in by statistics though.

I am interested in the Philips but get so annoyed with them for the way they seem to treat their customer base. They advertised the 9704 on their website for months before they actually appeared in any stores. The same seems to be the case with the 9705. Reading a couple of forums there appears to be buzzing sounds from the ambilight and their reliability doesn't seem brilliant. However WHF loved the 9704. So in answer to your question I am as sure as a chicken trying to cross the road (couldn't think of any better analogy).

now just eargerly awaiting the release at the ned of the month (hoping there not going to delay it AGAIN) i always think that samsung choose form over function, theres no denying there reviews most fai8r well, but having had sonys in the past i cant fault them, and the new monolith designs look sexy.

Well I've only gone and done it!

Just ordered the HX903 from Sony Centre. They said they have their first batch being delivered to the store next week, but all are reserved. The next batch will be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks!

Feel a bit of a mug really having not seen it in the flesh to compare it to the others, but then that is the point of What HiFi sound and vision giving their expert advice, isn't it?

Really liked the thought of the Samsung, but the silver surround really put me off in the end, and the spec for the Sony seems better.

Thanks for all your help, advise, suggestions. Much apreciated.
