For both Apple and Sonos. If you're primarily an Apple Music user, you NEED Sonos, and vice versa. It may not be incestuous relationship, but a transactional one most definitely. WiiM have released two highly significant and symbolic (excuse the relationship pun again) products - a small subwoofer, and a smart speaker, which can turn the WiiM Ultra into a satisfactory AV hub.

That immoral relationship between Sonos and Apple is under notice from where I stand, because WiiM are just getting warmed up. There's nothing stopping them from launching a soundbar now, and and and, etc etc etc. The horizon is infinite now. Surely they will dabble in Dolby Atmos too.

A reminder - Sonos does neither Tidal nor Spotify Connect, you're forced to use the Sonos app for the equivalent. And Sonos does not do high res streaming because of its resolution limit.

I've been using airplay for multi room streaming around the house for 17 years and I've never owned a sonos speaker or a HomePod for that matter.

Note I said multi room, I use tidal connect for single room or roon. Roon, Bluesound, or airplay for multi room. Airplay works across multiple brands.

Have been thinking exactly the same - as a loyal Sonos user in multiple rooms / homes for 10+ years - that WiiM is more likely to feature in the future. Especially, if they start mimicing the Sonos approach to products (soundbar, surrounds, etc). Price point and features is just far more attractive.

I'm talking specifically about Apple Music, not Airplay. Sonos is currently the only maker, apart from Eversolo (makeshift), that allows direct streaming from Apple, is the only maker that enables Atmos playback from Apple.

If you're primarily an Apple Music user, at some point you'd want to investigate Sonos, and vice versa.

I use Apple Music all the time because I am on my niece’s family account but I won’t use any Sonos products in the future. I did own a Sonos soundbar Arc and sub but sold it because I thought it was rubbish. But I can’t see me buying more in the future, I try to keep clear of mass produced crap.

Apple products are mass produced, and in far greater numbers than Sonos will be.
