How can you tell from a youtube video displayed on a computer screen?

I have done quite a few myself now, see my account here:

And they look really deep.

I had a demo of the LG 55 inch OLED for £5000 in John Lewis today and it blew me away! It was seriously good. If that TV comes down to £2000 I will be interested. Best OLED TV I have seen so far.

You're thinking that it might drop from £5,000 to £2,000?? Have you been at the Christmas sherry already? :)

I finally had a look at the Samsung curved OLED TV last week. I thought it looked great on the shop floor, though it was obviously set to Dynamic mode and displaying Samsung demo material. I'd have preferred a flat screen, though...

I still haven't seen the LG OLED TV. Maybe I'll be lucky and win the WHF competition! :) After all my TV woes I feel I deserve it; but the same is true of BBB, Rocket, MrW, and countless others fighting with retailers and manufacturers over problem sets.

 Not yet. It has to drop again, especially when the competition picks up which won't be too long. Really fab!

You are going to like this one, Strapped. The colours were perfect. Blacks were amazing, brightness was perfect, and I saw it on Freeview and that was good too. 55 inches would look great on my stand and I am sure in your setup too.

At best I could admire the TV from afar. The odds of me winning the WHF competition are less than negligible.

The LG's clear base makes no sense at all and seems as much of a design flaw as the curved screen.* In the video you can see every cable running behind the TV.

* Both the curve and the clear base appear present to showcase technology -- the curve to call attention to OLED, the base to show off the speakers. It'd be a better TV without both design flourishes, in my opinion. I'd still have one, though...

Yep, I did notice the cables coming out of the back of the LG, but curve wise you can hardly notice it on the LG, it took me a while to work out it even had a curve which is good news.

Once they get down to £3k it'll get interesting, though I don't think I'd want to drop down to a 55" screen. To be honest it will probably be another two years or so before I could justify splashing out on a new set having only brought the ZT this year, but that's fine because by then there may well be 'affordable' 65" or 70" panels available (and hopefully ones that are flat, not curved!).

I just entered the competition for one too.

I would say it was a clear 30 per cent better than my VT65, which is some going.

I agree Gel, we got this tv into work last week, and I honestly feel it's the first set to take the crown from the last generation Kuro. Superb picture!
