I thought this would be interesting, maybe even just to justify buying a bigger TV. Obviously this isn't an important metric, but I did learn:
  • For most popular high end models, the 65 inch models are cheapest / sq inch (e.g Sony A95L, Samsung S90D, LG G4). For most others, it's the 75 inch models.
  • TCL S551F 55" scores the lowest ($0.17/sq inch)
  • The lowest scoring OLED is the Samsung S85D ($0.55/sq inch)
  • For 100 inches, Hisense QD7 is the cheapest ($0.37/sq inch). For 85 inches, it's the TCL S551F ($0.22/sq inch)

what does this all mean ? not a lot i am thinking here. Not taken into consideration the discounted prices of new TVs. Then there is the fact of the import duty on the majority of TVs are in fact imported from the likes of Mexico which i gather running at 25% now This will have a drastic change on the price per square inch would it not ? Note Chinese brands are basically now banned from being imported into the USA Hold on does the USA manufacture its own TVs ? Here in the UK things are a lot different , the vast majority of TVs are now imported from the likes of Thailand China and EU. We here not asking any more import duty and that includes imported USA goods. The real trouble is when , the consumer wants to buy ie a Mobile phone or any electronic item small or large and finds there has to pay more , because the USA ,wants to manufacturers its own goods. We all know that will take time in fact years ! ( if it ever happens ! ( only have to look at your car industry and what happened to Detroit ) having a feeling Christmas this year is not going to be, "Ho Ho " more like oh dear me.

I choose TVs based on how they look - a natural looking picture (with regards to colour) and good contrast are way above how much screen I'm getting for my money. There are some brands on that list I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, even if they were free.
