I was adviced to by speakers, amp and dvd seperate but it is even more dificult to pick. Can anybody point me to the right direction. what do you think of NAKAMICHI SOUNDSPACE 21 . Hi tcooper. I am afraid lifestyle systems such as the Bose do not not get much space on this and many other hifi forums. They are regarded as style over substance and overpriced for the sound quality. I did like the Bose Lifestyle setups I have heard and have the Sounddock (hiss, boo, I know other forum members but I does me!).

I would go to your loacl hifi dealer with some familiar musc and ask for an audition of kit that is the same price range and see what you prefer.

I have a Bose Acoustimass 15 speaker system, and am absolutely delighted with it. If you mainly want speakers for watching TV and movies they provide, IMHO, superb quality surround sound.

Thank you

for that kind of money i would be looking at the

monitor audio rx6 av package

Pioneer SCLX82 190w 7 Channel AV Receiver,yamaha z7 or denon receiver

and a decent pioneer/denon blu-ray player

This in my opinion would spank the bose beyond belief.

Emmm.....you really cannot compare the tiny Bose speakers to the rather big Monitor Audio RX6. Yes Bose is overpriced for what it offers, but I can't think of another better sounding speaker that's as small as the Bose. Even the B&W MT30 speakers are atleast twice the size of the jewel cubes.

If you're looking for style & small speakers, definitely have an audition of Bose. Bear in mind that there are better sounding speakers for the money. But if you still like Bose, go for it. 4 of my friends own a Bose & they're all happy with it.

Bose is wedged somewhere between the high end consumer & the audiophile market. It's a rather poor audiophile speaker but a superb consumer speaker.

both systems would be around the £4000 and as he did'nt specifiy what size of speaker he wanted i have just given him an option that makes the bose look daft in comparison. out of the 2 systems im pretty sure i know which one everyone would opt for...

There are 2 aspects to choosing a system: performance & looks. Yes, the Monitor Audio will win on performance. But still not everyone will go for them: the speakers are huge (obviously large speakers will sound better) & compared to Bose, ugly. You still cannot compare the Bose to the large speakers. It's more appropriate to compare it with the B&W MT30 etc. People looking for a Bose system are usually interested in small speakers.
