I am looking for a small budget CD player - hight and width are not important but looking for a depth of around 20cm - i want to mount this in one of my kitchen cupboards to run with my Fatman Carbon and MA BR1 speakers - really struggling to find one any thoughts.

with thanks

There's not many out there on the market that will fit your requirements apart from Cyrus or Musical Fidelity but both of those will blow your budget.

i was struggling had thought about a cyrus CDP and laying it length ways but not sure cupboard is big enough to take it and either the cd or tray to insert a disc.

i buy a lot of cds and sometimes takes me a while to update my ipod - also i have more cds than my 160gb classic will take so sometimes just want to listen to something different

Airport express and an iPod touch for remote control purposes, or a squeezebox

I have s Squeezebox in my lounge connected to my XRay V8 DAC - the CD player would also make it easy for gfriend to just put on what she wants without messing around.

I don't know if there is such a thing as a CDP measuring only 20 cms deep.

The smallest CDP I know of is the old Creek CD43, which was very light and small, but still its depth was 28 cms.

Back to previous post - DVD player with optical out into Beresford / DacMagic. DVD player can sit on top of DAC. I bought one from Te**o recently which was around £18, and works suprisingly well...

As an alternative, how about an all in one box - there's a Yamaha that enjoyed good reviews from a few places. Might be worth considering; it'll give you the size you need, fit well with the speakers and give you an added radio option too.

Plus, you should be able to pick one up for less than £200 from the likes of Superfi, Richer Sounds, or one of the independents. CD replay was pretty decent too from memory and it'll remove the need to worry about multiple connections in your cupboard just by going to the BR2s.

Might not be what you want, but if the dedicated player option is becoming unlikely...

EDIT: I was thinking of the Yamaha CRX-M170 - currently £130 in Richer Sounds from £180, brand new and boxed. There are others from Denon, Onkyo, etc, going up to nearer your budget.
