Now that a have rejoined the analogue world with vinyl I'd love one.

Any suggestions of what can be achieved on a (very) modest budget.

I see a lot of these on eBay and most seem a bit tatty.

My dad's Akai GX210D is lovely, but I see not much use for it, other than aesthetics. Akai's with GX heads are apparently indestructable, the GX4000/4400 has one motor, the GX210/215 have three, meaning much faster rewind times.

Good luck finding one, I'm sure you can find a decent one without much hassle.

I found a gx-215d on ebay. I am now hoping that it's in good condition when it arrives. It's always hard to judge from ebay pages.

I am now waiting delivery, just thought I'd post the update.
