Hi All.
Hope Cliff1 Dosent mind but iv`e copied his comment regarding the upcoming humax pvr. Any comments on this??

"I'm thinking of buying this Humax.

Does anyone know exactly how HDCP works. From things i've read my understanding is that it is supposed to stop anyone recording a broadcast in HD & films shown on TV in HD.

The HDMI cables carry the signal & The signal is decoded at the end of the run, by the TV, which means that recorders in between can't record the broadcast.

At least thats how i've interpreted what i've seen.

Maybe it isn't working in the UK yet.

IF it isn't but is on the way,i imagine that will be the end of recorders,at least for HD.

Anyone know.I don't want to spend £300 on something that is going to be obsolete next year"

Calm down - Sky+ HD uses HDCP and records fine (though some owners of older displays have had issues, and there can be the occasional HDMI handshake glitch).

I really can't see this being an issue on a free-to-air service such as Freesat - but we've got the Humax PVR due within the next couple of weeks, and you can rest assured we'll give it a good going-over with both HD and SD recordings.
