Humax HD Fox T2 - recording confusion

I want to buy a PVR to use with my 720p Samsung. After browsing about I decided to choose between two Humaxes, the PVR 9300T and the HD Fox T2. Both are in my price range.

I understand that I need an FAT formatted external hard drive to use the Fox T2, and that regardless it does not have all of the features of a twin tuner PVR. However, it does have the ability to stream iPlayer, which I would like.

After ringing Humax and talking to a salesman at JL I am confused about recording on the Fox T2 whilst simultaneously watching another programme on another channel. The bloke at Humax said, initially, that I could not whilst the bloke at JL said it would not record at all. Discounting the latter advice [which is plain wrong] I then asked the bloke at Humax if I could record on the Fox T2 using the AV channel [Humax tuner] on my Samsung and at the same time as recording on one channel watch another channel through the Samung TV tuner. He said I could do that and that the Fox T2 would not stop recording.

I obvously want to be able to record on one channel whilst watching another, and it seems as if I can indeed do this with the Fox T2. The question is whether the Fox T2 will stop recording if one switches from the AV mode to the TV mode of the Samsung.

I would very much welcome a definitive answer from someone who has a Fox T2 or is otherwise in the know.

Of course it won't... Why would it?

you can of casue record on the Humax and watch another channel on TV using tv's tuner as the TV's and humax's tuners are independent (provided each is connected to antenna signal)

you can also record a channel on humax and watch another chanel on humax tuner, but only if that other cahnnel is on the same multiplexor as the channel being recorded.

I do not know exaclty how the channels are grouped by multiplexor but e.g. all HD cahnels are on one, so you can watch an HD channel on humax while recording another hd channel on humax and you cannot watch an sd channel while recording an hd channel.

I do not know if all sd channles are on one multiplexor or grouped into several. maybe more knowledgeable people here can help.

See here - it depends on whether your area has gone through the Digital Switchover or not as to how the channels are grouped.

Get the manual addendum from the Humax website. It explains all.
