I have hum from my turntable Project Essential II when theres no sound and when i play music, when turn the volume is at 11 o' clock

I tried this (with the ground cable connected to the amp) http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=66233

First off with the volume down unplug the phono cables from the preamp, then turn up the volume. If the hum is still there then the problem is in your preamp.

If not the connect the interconnects back and unplug them from the turntable. then see if the hum is still there if not then the airing in the turntable/cartridge leads are the problem.

There is no hum from the turntable when i raise the volume, makes me think it's not the preamp according to the link (just can't remove the cable from the turntabel)

Hi, try running the earth / grounding cable from the turntable RCA output box grounding point to the grounding point on your pre-amp, and also run one from your pre-amp to your Main Amp as well. If that doesn't fix it then consider a direct earth which fixed my turntable with an earth hum at home. https://www.henleydesigns.co.uk/Earth-Plug-p1386

If the hum is worse when you move the tonearm back and forth across the platter then it's more likely to be a broken inner tonearm cable that needs replacing. You could also try another set of RCA cables from the turntable to the pre-amp. Just ensure you don't buy expensive Chord ones with a floating shield as these don't like turntables !
