dreadful trying to watch this contantly buffering even on 106Mbs Virgin.

Its working - Right the expert says buy the flat 4K as its better with SD - DOH what a comment.

In all honesty who will care about SD quality. To be honest thats where Panasonic have fixed their OLED curved over LG - their have got the edges even in terms of performance with the middle so they say

Then Curved tv's give you 90 seconds of extra pleasure - dont tell Gel.

Good link guys

You adjust this to REC 709 accurate colours not to taste. I couldnt believe an expert said that either

Not sure whether that was a comment or an instruction, but sorry if the appearance of a perfectly-preserved member of Gong was too easy a target to avoid! ;-)

Anyway, point taken on this video: striking that, whatever the conlusion, the technology equivalent of Fifth Gear is able to muster resources and carry out a test seemingly way beyond the ability of what claims to be a leading 'tech' authority.

Given how derided the Gadget Show has been in the past when it's tried to tackle topics such as audio and video, perhaps now's the time for those who consider themselves to be experts in this field to take heed of the likes of this segment, and ask themselves some difficult questions concerning how well they're serving their readers.

The performance of a TV can be measured and true set by set comparisons made. It's not subjective or according to taste as with hifi. Loading TV reviews with meaningless terms tells you nothing really. The recent review posted on this site for the Samsung UE40JU7000 contained: "well-judged colour palette", "a good balance between the cooler and warmer colour palettes", "contrast is superbly judged", "the finer detail and insight that really makes this picture shine". What does insight even mean when describing a TV picture?

Maybe it's me but I'd rather know whether about the screen uniformity, the effectiveness of the backlight system and motion, gamma tracking accuracy and black depth. This is all stuff that can be measured or described quantitively. Sure, describe how the picture makes you feel, even use "wow" and "stunning" if necessary, but provide some technical context first. Otherwise it's just waffle.

Still, other opinions, and sources of TV reviews, are available.
