How to connect Sky hd ???

I'm new to the home cinema set up. I have the yamaha dsp ax-863se. Sky + HD will be installed next week. Just wondering do i connect sky to the amp with hdmi and optical or do i connect with hdmi only. In other words will the hdmi cable do picture and sound. or do i need the optical cable to transmit sound.

HDMI will only do stereo. You need the optical as well for 5.1.

Any well built hdmi and optical will do the job fine, don't spend a fortune. Others will disagree but don't go there.
