How much do you need to spend to beat AV for music?

Hi Folks,

Currently listen to CDs through my Denon 2500bt vis Denon4308a to Monitor Audio Silver RS8s. I would like a seperate set up just for hifi and was looking at the Marantz 6004 kit, this is approx £600 without speakers. Also I've seen the Pearl lite K1 amp and CDP for roughly £1300 minus speakers.

Would either of these combos give a significant improvement? I assume I could link either to my RS8s or buy new floorstanders, any suggestions on speakers?

Budget for speakers about £1000.

Oh, musical taste is eclectic to say the least!

get a amp with a av bypass for stereo for your L & R

If I were u I would invest in a Marantz Av amp, best of both world. Like mentioned above if u bypass, to direct mode u will always get a musical sound. I for one do not see the big difference between 2 channel & av amps. The diferences are so little its not worth worrying over. That's my opinion.
