How much difference would a new cartridge make to my setup?

Hi all

i currently have an AT90e attached to my Ariston turntable.

i am really enjoying listening to vinyl again and am happy overall with my setup.

however I am wondering what difference a small upgrade in cartridge might make? Max spend £100.

i would also be interested in anyone's opinion on how the ariston deck shapes up against today's budget turntables?

thanks!

How old is your cartridge, wilsmusic? Swapping my 30-year old Dynavector for a new cartridge has shown just how bad my old one was. I'm unable to comment further, only having recently changed cartridges, and, lke you, am enjoying the vinyl I thought didn't sound very good. But you may find the feeling is that you'll need to spend at least £150, for a significant improvement. Hope I'm proved wrong, though.

Also, is a replacement cantilever/stylus available for your cartridge? This might be a cheaper route, if available.

Thanks for the reply!

stylus is a couple of months old and cartridge a couple of years at most...got the turntable from a friend who'd recently had the turntable serviced.
