as i have started to download music in flac and hi res downloads
i also have 1000 plus cds and 400 lps i think i now have to much

music, to play so how many cd and lps do you own
and what is your music buying habit ie cd-lps or downloads and do you think
you have to much music to play..

CDs - abt 300
LPs - none
Downloads - abt 450 tracks in lo-res and abt 150 tracks in hi-res
Total tracks - abt 5000
I think your point about having too much music can be valid. I find that I mostly listen to the music that I recently (in the last 1-2 years) appreciated, as my music taste evolves. This does not mean I do not listen to the rest of the music - I just do it less frequently. The number of tracks/albums that I hardly ever listen to is maybe 10-15% - which is, if oyu think about it, quite a lot!.

I had about 700 cd's til about 2 months ago. Now have about 350 as I gave a load away (stuff like old mixmag cd's). I also have about 1000 vinyl, mostly trance and techno 12" singles.

Basically, too much!!! But I like having the variety and thinking 'I've forgotten how good that sounds.'

I have also found that stuff I bought and forgotten about now sound better/more to my tastes, than they used to.

about 20 cds , i only had around 4 up till a few weeks ago ,i seemed to lose most of my old ones , ill probably have 100 by xmas though

About 2,500 CDs and around 300 LP's. It used to be a lot more LPs but most of them have gone to Oxfam. Far too many CD's to be called healthy I think and they don't all get played these days. I sometimes wonder why I keep my LP12 with so few LP's which I rarely play.

hi chris t good collection of cds
i like your choice of turntable if it was mine i would
be adding more lps with the linn front end,
i used to have one myself i changed to gyrodec
but find i miss the linn sound.

No CD's - Gone after all ripped in aiff.

No LP's

Around 120,000 tracks in lossless and around 10,000 in HD 24/88.2 or above.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! You jest of course, as that would be a gross breach of copyright on your part and we wouldn't want FACT hunting you down or anything like that...

600 odd CDs, 400ish LPs and 12", 200 7" one or two downloads and all the CDs ripped to FLAC and ACC.

and then a few hundred HD-DVDs and BDs (400-500)

Hmm, I had thought about 300 CDs (and no LPs), although it appears I've either ripped or own less than I thought, as a look at my ripped folder shows 161 albums.

A few of those are singles, and some I've not quite got around to listening to as they were nabbed from the local BBC radio station I used to work for (resulting in a few being specific for-radio releases).

My music buying has dried up a little recently; seem to spent a little less time listening to (or making, for that matter) music. Partly being a dad, partly going back to Uni.

I have bought the odd digital track (Jonathan Coulton starting it, most recently the soundtrack to the excellent free Flash game "The Company of Myself"), but always in Flac.

Didn't say where they have gone... 😛

Safely stored in the attic now of course 0🙂 .... Just not near the system as they take up precious space in my relatively small area 😉

Oh i do love the righteous disection of posts 😉

I have around 1200 vinyl and 800 CDs and am around half way through transferring both collections to a PC.

I also am happy to admit to having maybe 100 albums copied from friends PCs because the illegal stuff has helped me discover new artists, some of which I've then gone on and bought.

I continue to spend around £25 per week and, although I wouldn't say I have enough music yet, I do find it difficult to choose what to play, so typically leave the PC on random and adjust star ratings if it plays something particularly good or bad.

I have about 500 CDs and about another 200 albums on the computer mostly lossless.

Copyright is quite an interesting one now, my brother has around 10,000 CDs (and probably 1000 DVD/blurays) so I could quite easily increase my numbers 10fold if I took my lap top to his but I do feel a bit wrong doing it. I was also in my local library (some are still open!!) recently and they have quite a large cd rental collection, I am presuming it would still be breaking the law to rip these rentals but I kind of feel morally that It is better because I have paid for the rentals, it's funny how right and wrong gets a little blurred by our beliefs and opinions. I don't download music illegally as I have spotify premium.

I had over 800 CDs and 400 records.got almost 1000 DVDs aswell.I sold all my CDs and records.i have them all on an external harddrive anyway.yes I'm bad but I bought them so I'll do what I please!I'd do the same with the DVDs if it didn't take so long.

I've never enjoyed music so much now that I've done away with the collecting side of it.

I don't really use the music in the hard disk much .spotify radio I the way i listen most of the time.

I've got rid of all the boxes and went active aswell and it's bliss!

Minimalism is the way forward for me.

All I need is for someone to bring out actives with built in dac and harddisk with the ability to uset spotify and I'm laughing.

Sorry I've went slightly off topic!
