if you don't mind me sharing my opinion i believe that from new, speakers do need running/burning in, i have noticed a massive difference in my headphones during the first 20 hours of usage, at first the bass and midrange seemed very un defined, and the treble very sharp and odd sounding, but now they sound totally different, i was also comparing them to my other earphones, so i did have a 'point of reference'.
i do believe that loudspeakers would start to sound different as they're used, as they're mechanical, the suspension around the cone would flex and become more free moving, but as for SS amplifiers, and cables etc, they have the same properties, until warmed/cooled, and unless the temperature has gone to an extreme, then they wouldn't change would they? your PC doesn't get faster or slower if it has been used for 20 hours (unless heated up too much)
but oddly, i do believe my system sounds different when I come back to it after a month or so not being used, but it gradually sounds better. this is probably due to an earlier mentioned thing about my ears getting used to the sound (not a new pair of speakers)
