How good is my Pioneer 4280XD still ?

Is it worth upgrading to a full hd 42" inch screen from my Pioneer 4280XD ?

Any advice appreciated

Short answer. No. 2009 models might be getting closer to its quality, but not yet.

Very well against the 2008 ones. Haven't seen enough of the 2009 ones to comment.

If most of your viewing is in 720p or below, I'd stick with your Kuro. If on the other hand, you're mainly watching blu rays, it might be time to change.

The new Pioneer plasmas will beat your Kuro for blacks, and will give a sharper, more detailed picture when watching blu rays, but they have problems with image retention, excessive buzzing, and worst of all, DSE. (see some other posts for more details).

I have regretted selling my Kuro since the day the Panasonic GT50 arrived, so think hard before you make that decision.
