Why don't you go for a Sony BDP-S760 or a Denon DVD-2500BT instead?

they dont play mkv files , and i love that with the oppo , you can skip straight to the movie , without being forced to watch silly intros and anti piracy vids

bigboss:Some LG & Samsung players play MKV files. You know, I've just put a movie on, & am being forced to watch all those trailers............I was just thinking of the Oppo!!its annoying , i dont think people should be forced to watch something they dont want to , after paying their money , yes the lgbd390 is on my shortlist , hopefully whfi will get a sample for review soon ...its much cheaper than the oppo too ...

Hey maxflinn what part of Ireland do you live in? Im in Dublin, i had the same dilemma, after waiting weeks for the Oppo website to go 'live' and then the fiasco that ensued i've gone off the idea of getting one....

You can get the Sony DBP-S760 from a dealer on e-bay (he seems genuine), i rang for a price for p+p and all in should get it for ?365

I just whack on the BluRay, go out and get the beers and nachos and hey presto the trailers are over

Yep i did see that, however this has only been relesased in the last few weeks, so id say there's nothing wrong with the actual player..

Full 12 month warranty, thats the same as the Sony Centre offer.........less ?120

Could do something crazy like myself. Visited relatives in California and ordered it to their address. Shipping was free on Amazon.com and brought it back myself (did the same with a PS3 years ago) You could get it sent to a friend and then if they're willing send it over to you. Customs will get you mind (they go for everything). It's a really nice player very well packaged and performs sweetly. CD and DVD playback surpass my old Denon 3930 and blu-ray was better than Panasonic BD80. Haven't seen the much-praised Sony 760 but wouldn't think it's too much of a leap. MKV playback is pretty nice but any file over 4gb won't play due to being FAT32 file system. The mod-chip works beautifully and I like having the option of choosing where I get my blu-rays.
