Anyone see the George Clark program with the posh shed with home cinema in it?

Surely sound proofing can't be that good? wouldn't it drive the neighbours mad or has sound proofing now got quite good?

Yes, but what would it sound proofed with? I once tried to 'sound proof' the floor of a flat as the noise annoyed the lady downstairs but it had almost no affect. It was the early '90s though.

Indeed, but the question still stands. Say a stud wall construction, timber on the outside plasterboard on the inside and insulation inbetween. I just can't imagine what would adequately contain the sound from a home cinema as it's going to be pumping our some decibels!

There was a build thread on that shed on AVF a few years ago, don't know if its still on there

That 'shed' was built on a piece of land at the bottom of his garden (owned by his mother, who's also his neighbour) hundreds of feet from any properties and he didn't do anything special wrt to soundproofing, it was timber clad inside and out with some insulation inbetween and could be heard at reference levels from what I recall.

There are/were plenty of shed builds on AVF, probably worth having a read on what they do for noise insulation.

I'm always having fanciful dreams and one of them is to build a home cinema den in the back garden, maybe some day.
