I am looking to upgrade my setup as I have just bought a pana tx-p42g10b and a sony BDP S360. I am going to have about £300 to spend every 3 months for the next year and have fair bit of kit already which i will bore you with first. I have SKY+, a Sony STRDE400 amp (dolby digital only and no 7 channel input) Tannoy M1 fronts (on atacama stands) with Mercury Centre, rears are a tannoy passive sub sat combination can't find a model number but bought them the same time as the mercury's, front cables are qed qudos, cambridge audio IPOD dock with atlantic cable, a cheap sub from a panasonic all in one dvd home cinema kit, a nintendo wii and I will be buying a five start HDMI cable over the weekend,

So over the next year I want to get a quality setup giving me full HD Audio, I was thinking about upgrading the amp (probably STR DH800) to get into HD audio first, but what do you think are the best steps I can take to upgrading? I like the look of the Monitor Audio Vector speakers but getting value for money is more important than having to change so if keeping some of what I have already is the best idea i am happy to do this.

Its very difficult to upgrade in stages as speakers and amps need matching. Firstly a new amp to get the best out of your speakers using the Sony BDP-360. If you intend on go for Monitor Audio's then Yamaha amps match very well, i would look at them in your price range the Yamaha RX-V765 would be a good choice at £350.Also the Onkyo 607 and Denon 1910 and Sony 2400es should be around that price. Once you buy your new amp and save up for new speakers, prices may change and new arrivals will be available so that will have a bearing on your final choice. A new amp is the way to go as your older amp will not do justice to new speakers.

Hi Lobby, thanks for this I don't have alot of experience system matching as always just bought the best I could afford. I like the idea of the denon as my father has the 1909 and love how it sounds but it's abit over my budget, do you have any experience of the 1610 as should be able to afford it and i'm not bothered about going to 7.1.

typical just seen the next thread and doesn't look like the 1610 cuts the mustard. Looks like I better save some pennies and get the 1910 and then wait a bit for the monitor audios.
