Hi! I'm fairly new to Home Cinema and I've yet to decide on an AV receiver (£1000 budget) but I have a question regarding speakers. We have quite a small living room and I would like to know your opinions on:

B&W MT-30

B&W 685 Theatre

and KEF3005SE.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Hi,

I'd recommend adding the Kef 5005.2s to your list. I think Kef are dropping the silver version so you can pick these up for about the same as the 3005SEs right now. The included sub is essentially the same HTB2 and the satellites are superior. Having said that, if you can squeeze them into your room, the 685s will probably sound even better.

I have just purchased the following Monitor Audio kit for a £1000 (nearly £400 off list price):

3x Radius 225HD - front
2 x C180 ceiling speakers - rear
R370 subwoofer

Could be an alternative? Although you'd possibly want to use R90s or the like for the rears instead.

It's all sounding and almost as importantly looking good so far!

Dave. I have (and love) the B&W MT-30s.

They also come in white, which Kefs don't, if that's remotely important to you.

The PV1 alone will have you drooling, and that's before you turn it on.

Almost everyone will agree if you can find a home for the 685 HT package, you'll get the best sound for your money. But it's a big "if". Personally I'd have struggled to fit the full 685 package into my room, and I haven't even bothered with telling you what my Wife would've said.

EDIT: Just re-read your post. Small room? MT-30s. No brainer.
