In the new year I am going to build an extension on to my house, it will enclude a kitchen and small living area where i am going to put my 7.1 Home Cinema set up. I am going to route the speaker cables through the walls and was wondering how to go about this to be economical with the amount of cable used and also deal with the fact that cables may be different lengths?

Dont worry about the lengths. You can have any lengths you desire. However, I would recommend keeping the left and right channels the same as theyre by far the ones youd notice first if there was any missmatch (I doubt you would, im just playing it safe)

Pink Moon,

Speaker cable lengths are irrelevant. As you are having these cables run through your walls, ensure that you have an 'extra' length for each channel, so as not to inconvenience you in the future if you decide to move things around.
