Hi all,
Ok, let me first tell you what I have so far in regards to the cinema system.
Sony KDL - 40W2000 40" LCD TV as recommended by What Hi-Fi.
Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player.
Now the Questions, being a big fan of film I want an excellent receiver to de-code all the sound options on the Blu-ray disc's. If I am correct both the Onkyo TX-SR605 (£400) and the expensive TX-SR875 (£1000) both will decode the new format codecs from my player. I do not intend to play a lot of music via the system merely movies and have never owned a receiver or seperate speakers before.
In just buying the above first two components (LCD & Player) I have spent just under £2000. I am finding it difficult to persude the missus to spend a further £1000 on something that will decode sounds thus what is the major difference between the two receivers I have mentioned, as I still have to buy the speakers.
Will the cheaper receiver be ok when partnered with a decent set of speakers as I intend to buy the KEF KHT3005 SE. Are the older models minus the SE worth the £5/600 price I have seen listed or should I stretch that little extra.
Please bear in mind that this is my first home cinema set-up so please go easy on the answers nothing too technical.
Many Thanks, Neil.
