I have the following - Panasonic TV (TX-P50G10B). Yamaha AV Amp (RX-765). Sky + box (Thomson) and a yet to be purchased Blu Ray Player. I am looking for advice on the best way to hook the lot up. I would imagine that an HDMI lead out from the amp directly to the TV is required. Do I also need an optical connection from the TV to the amp for Freesat sound (The TV has a built in Freesat tuner). I have tried connecting the Sky box to the amp via an S video lead and optical lead but the displayed picture is black and white!!! If anyone can provide me with the correct way to connect this all up to acheive best possible picture and sound I would be most grateful.

Connect the Sky+ box (not SkyHD right?) directly to the TV via a scart cable, this will give you the best picture (set the Sky+ box to output RGB in the picture settings). Take an optical digital cable from the Sky box to the amp for sound.

You could take another optical lead from the TV to the amp if you like for the Freesat audio, if the TV's own sound isn't good enough, it might only be stereo though, I couldn't say for sure.

If you do get a Blu-Ray player, just plug it into the amp via HDMI.

No not Sky HD. Thanks for your response - seems straight forward enough
