Having been a constant subscriber to your marvellous publication for around 15 years now, I should like to politely request assistance from you with some direct and personal advice.

I wonder if you could help me? I am trying to create a home cinema. The room concerned is an exact rectangular shape of maximum dimensions: - roughly 12 metres long by 5 metres wide (could be made smaller, if necessary). I have a budget of £4000 for Processor/amp & speakers only.

Could you please give me your recommendations for these two aspects? The room will be sound-proofed & capable of complete “Black-out”.

Also, could you tell me how much you would allocate for interconnects/cables etc. to go with the above? I have already purchased an “infocus 76”, which I came across some time ago at a very good price. How does this compare with other projectors up to £1000?

Would I have enough, if I budgeted another £500 for a suitable blue ray player? Once again what recommendations?

Finally, how much difference does the quality of the screen, itself, have on the final result? What should I spend on this item? And again what would you select? Any other tips?

With very many thanks in anticipation of your kind assistance and best wishes,

Gary Owram.

Also looking for a new projector for one of my public bars, to replace my old “Seleca” ‘big-Screen’ system (20 years old & still going strong with original bulbs, believe it or not – and it’s on every single day continuously for a minimum of 15 hours).

For a rectangular room of rough dimensions of 15 ft. Wide x 45 ft. long.

What, would you say, is the best option or available projector on the market at approx. up to £1000? Or thereabouts? To produce as clear and as big an image as is possible.

Again, do you feel I would need to spend more?Talking about projector only, at this stage.

Again, with very many thanks,

Gary.
