I have an old system comprising Audiolab cd player Audiolab pre/power tag mclaren processor. I am about to set this up again but i want an amp to drive the home cinema (possibly denon 1910) my question is can i use the audiolab/tag mclaren for music and another amp for home cinema duties,any thoughts

Yes, you can use the Tag just as a 2 channel hi-fi pre-amplifier and add an AV receiver to it for surround duties. Do you have a Bluray player that decodes internally? If you have, I'd be tempted to use it through the 6/8 channel input on the Tag, as this will be better quality than a budget AV receiver.
