I am looking to buy an AV amp/receiver and compact speaker package (the wife won't allow a full size system), have seen Denon 1910 for £390, Yamaha 1095 for £450 and Denon 2310 for about £600, any thoughts would be appreciated as well as suggestions for speakers!

Heard the Yamaha 1065 being demo'd and it sounded great.

Aaah.... A few years back I remember looking to spend £1000 on everything......... It ended badly.

If you're gonna stick to your budget. Try Kef 2005.3K1 for around £500. Denon 1910 for £400, then you could get a Blu-Ray player (if you don't have one already) for around £120 (Sony BDP-S360). The rest of your budget will be fine for speaker cables, sub cable & HDMI cables.

B&W MT-25's all the way dude! Get the Sony DH800 and you'll come in just about on budget. Now all you need to do is to get the dealer to throw in some free speaker cable!

You couls also consider the KEf 3005se with HTB2SE sub available here for £799 only in silver.

And pair with denon 1910

If you need ipod/mp3 connectivity the yams have a usb input, so you can connect up without the need of a separate dock.

As for cables make sure the wife is in a good mood and tell her forgot to budget for cables

As for sound, best go for demo.

I got mine from that place last week for £769, price has obviously krept up a tad. I've also got the denon 1910 and things are going well.
