Hi,

I require some advice on how best to connect up my new system as I want to use it to its full potential!
  • Tele - Sony KDL-40W2000
  • Satallite - Sky HD
  • Console - PS3
  • DVD Player - Denon 1930DVD
  • Speakers - Acoustic Energy AEGO T 5.1 system
  • Receiver (currently) - Sony STRDA1200ESS
Please let me know the highest quality way to connect these up using the inputs available.

Furthermore - I am looking to either keep the same receiver if possible, but if I can get more out of my system with a higher spec receiver please let me know.

QED Qunex HDMI, connect everythig with the shortest length of hdmi possible. QED optical or coaxial digital cables where applicable. QED silver anniversary speaker cable, it is as good as they say.

nothing much more interesting even at the top of the range to be honest. they all make sound come from their speakers. all do it pretty well. if it aint broke dont fix it. p.s. - being unhappy with the sound it produces counts as being broke.

I'd go: HDMI straight to TV from Sky HD, with optical digital to receiver for audio.

HDMI to receiver from PS3, with optical digital to receiver.

HDMI to receiver from DVD-1930, with electrical (coaxial) digital to receiver.

HDMI from receiver to TV's second HDMI in to carry picture from PS3 and DVD-1930.

And no, I wouldn't bother with a new receiver until you start to think about a hi-def player at some point, where you might want the extra sound resolution these can also deliver. Unless, that is, you're planning on playing a lot of Blu-rays on the PS3, when something like the Onkyo TX-SR605 might be worth considering...
