i have been trying for a couple of months trying to finalise my nw home cinema system. here are my thoughts on each bit:

TV

Got to be the Pioneer Kuro 5090...or so I thought..until I saw the KRP which as well as having slightly better spec also has a separate media box whioch appeals to me since it makes the wiring idiot proof (I am going to put all the wiring behind walls and am afraid that I will forget something or will want something extra in the future). With the media box, this eliminates the problem. Any view on this?

Amplifier/Speakers

Originally I was going to go for the Denon 1909 with teh B&W MT-30s but was told that the Denon was not powerful enough tp do those speakers justice. Has anyone experienced this (I was told this by the guy at the hi-fi stoare and was thus trying to get me to go for the cheaper KEF3000's so it couldnt have been for him to sell a more expensive product)

I am now tending towards the Yamaha DSP-AX863SE (which has been reduced from £800 to £600!) and pair it with som Monitor Radius speaker (wife has given approval although she doesnt like the gold dome because the rest of the house will have silver/chrome fittings!!!). The plan is to have a pair of R250HD's as front speakers, an R225HD as a centre, and a pair of R90HD's for the rear. And the R370HD sub.

Any view on this set up?

I'm interested in a reply to this with regards to the Denon 1909 powering B&W MT-30s. I was thinking of the same set-up if funds allow. Just a thought, could your stockist get hold of Denon and B&W?

Anyone know if the B&W MT-10 kit is any good?

Have you listened to the KEF 3005se by any chance. Lot cheaper than the B&W MT-30.

Just wondering how these compare to one another

Yes I have.

My verdict (all using the denon 1909 amp):

Kef package - i thought the fsatelittes spealkers were excellent. sub weak

B&W MT-3's - excellent sub but less impressed with the sats

kef sats with PV1 (sub from MT30 package) - perfect compromise!!! but then....

tried monitor radius 90;s with PV1..excellent (note these were the old radius - new ones have recently come out and are supposed to be even better....)

its so hard to decide....also some say to stick to same brand for all speakers so its tough to decide

I personally cant see the problem just changing the sub. Would agree, that all the other speakers should be from the same house if you know what i mean.

Thanks for the info anyways.

Im also thinking about purchasing the B&W MT-10 and when i have the money upgrade the sub to bring it up to B&W MT-30. I still also undecided.
