Hi,

It's my understanding that any source plugged in via an HDMI socket does not need to be 'found' by the TV. You should be able to turn the TV on, select the HDMI input and play a DVD.

Cheers,

oh right so it makes no diffrence to picture quality as long as the HDMI cable is in i will get upscaling from the dvd player to 1080p ?, i just thought by reading mauals they had to interlock to get best results.

Indeed HDMI should take care of everything and should link your TV and DVD player through Sony's Theatre Sync (universally known as HDMI-CEC). Both your 40D3500 and RDR-GX350 should upscale any signal to 1080p so you should not have any problems. As far as I am aware 1080p should be displayed in the top right corner of your screen when the DVD player is selected.

Hope this helps. Kind regards, Darren
