High pictched Whine on the BDP-370

Hey I have an intermident whine that will last about 15 min then go quite then come on again.

I was watching Generation Kill last night (great series) but the whine you could hear in the background.

Anyone come accross this? Seen one other post about this, but not much response.

Hi Canada 16,

The 370 does whine a little with Blu Rays, although not with DVDs. However, it's much less intrusive than the PS3 fan noise (if my home cinema system is turned on it tends to drown the whine of the 370 out). Does this sound like the whine you're experiencing? If so, I think it's perfectly normal.

My 370 whines when playing a Blu-ray. And it also rattles/groans when playing anything. I guess it's the nature of the beast. Just turn up the volume

I have no whine on mine.

Do you have 'Quick Start' enabled?

I have read that this makes far more use of the fan.

I leave 'Quick Start' off because of this.

That's worth a try when I get home. Doesn't disabling the quick start function increase loading times considerably? That said, it might be worthwhile if it eliminates virtually all mechanical noise from the BDP.

Hey I have my sky box on top, as dont have enough room to have it seperate.

Will try turn off that quick start if its set.or just put the BDP ontop of the sky box

Yes, that is what I would suggest you do in the first instance!
