Maybe not as silly as it sounds, if you suffer from not sleeping well, due to having stressful stuff on your mind when you retire to bed, thinking/dreaming of your hifi, or winning the lottery, or counting sheep is a good way of taking your mind off the stressful stuff.12th, this really is rather a silly OP. Dreaming about your hi-fi?? You need to get out more my friend

I'm presently re-reading the book on dreams from the OUP series 'very short introductions'. Dreams have no meaning to decipher, though they often reflect elements of your life and preoccupations at any given time. The weirdness is due to a trait called hyperassociativity, in turn caused by the activation of certain parts of the brain during sleep and inactivation of others. Exactly the same reason is behind the difficulty in recalling them clearly, or indeed at all.Yes, but he dreamt about his hi-fi being on fire!
