Hidef Processor in place of av amp

Hi all

Ive recently acquired an arcam p1000 power amp which is connected to my denon av amp (Which is used as a processor/pre amp)

Id like to upgrade to a processor that can decode hidef dolby and DTS (Without any inbuilt amplification). The only one ive found thus far is a denon which is around 5k. Im looking more around the 1.5k mark if possible. Surely SOME manufacturers have them dont they? Or am I going to have to wait a while (For Arcam to make one say)

Any suggestions welcome

The Onkyo SC886 is your best bet. Very accomplished sound and you will have no issues connecting that to the Arcam.

Marantz have an AV8003 that is superb.

Ditto the comment on the Marantz AV8003. Mine is partnered with a NAD Masters Series M25 7-channel Power Amplifier, and the Marantz is awesome; extremely musical, which is probably the biggest praise I can afford it.

Sonically, the Marantz is mesmerising. I know it is not as well-specified as some other units out there, but if/when your priority is sonic quality, the Marantz does not shortchange you.

I could never go back to an A/V Receiver/Amplifier serving Pre-Amplification duties; bring on the separates!
