Hi level input or coaxial to sub? Losses or gains?

Hi ppl, most Subwoofers allow this configuration, I use a coax to my sub but have high level inputs, are there any gains from using these inputs other than playing music in Direct mode as coax doesn't allow sub to play. What connection do you use and why?

Be good to hear different views.
