I've read quite a bit about Hi-Fi Racks stuff and it seems to be well-liked. I'm moving house soon and so saying goodbye to my wooden wall-mounted shelves (which have served me well for about two decades).

Anyone any "real-world" experience of the podium setup, which is currently the front-runner for my new place? I'll need only three shelves, not the full four. Do the spikes come with bases (as illustrated) for wooden floors?

TIA

Peter

Superb bits of kit. Not convinced how much difference any rack makes to SQ as long as it's solid and level but it does that job and looks superb. You can buy as many shelves as you like. It comes with spike shoes - either black or gunmetal. You can specifiy this, as you can the colour of the spike. You can specify any size of plinth and any leg length. Smaller than standard plinth may not only look better but also save you money. Consider the black legs with oak plinth, it looks superb (especially with black kit, but also with silver).

Also, get a price from them direct and also from a dealer, you may actually save money via a dealer, as I did

Ben,

Wow! Fabulously fast and detailed response - many thanks. Looks like the choice is made...

It's an excellent stand and very simple but beautiful concept. Each shelf features 4 threaded bolt holes as do each of the four legs and each leg then screws into the shelf using a single (double ended) threaded bolt). Each leg comes with a spike on the bottom that fits into a "spike saucer" on the top of the shelf below it (or into your floor). They'll make the top shelf of your stand with or without spike saucers on the top shelf to allow for further shelves or for a smooth top surface.

You can order as many shelves as you need and pick from the "standard" shelf gaps on offer of 130mm 180mm or 200mm (basically "standard" gap offerings to avoid having too many choices off the shelf) of you can specify a custom height upto anything like 300mm for big power amps.

Oak and black have been the standard finishes but some beautiful new finishes were recently released including walnut, maple and cherry.
