I am wanting a small hi-fi system that is perfectly matched with speakers from different companies, like a best of both worlds. So these are the choices I have made...

PIONEER XCP01DAB DAB/CD/RECEIVER MINI SEPARATES SYSTEM & DALI ZENSOR 1 SPEAKER PACKAGE

MARANTZ MCR610 MELODY MEDIA PLAYER MINI SYSTEM WITH DALI ZENSOR 1 BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS (WITH FREE SPEAKER CABLE)

http://www.superfi.co.uk/p-13175-marantz-mcr610-melody-media-player-mini-system-with-dali-zensor-1-bookshelf-speakers-with-free-speaker-cable.aspx

I chose these as am looking for seperate style performance in a small package, also heard nothing but good things about the Dali Zensor 1 speakers.

As a recent thread in here regarding disappointment with Kef LS50 aptly showed, "hearing nothing but good things" about a speaker is no substitute for actually hearing it. No one here can possible guess what sort of presentation you like or what your room acoustics or possible positiong limitations may be. So the only useful answer I can offer is get out & listen to some. ;)

You are definitely on the right track, and the Zensor 1s are excellent, but I agree with Crocodile - you need to audition to make sure they are right for you. There are plenty of very capable small speakers out there and I'd certainly listen to at least the Zensor 1s, the Q 2020i, and the newly revised Tannoy Mercury V1i.

Or plan B, if you can't audition for some reason, is to just buy from somewhere with a cast iron return policy. If you do that & find you don't like them you can at least come back & say what you didn't like. Then you may get some meaningful suggestions for alternatives.
