I just bought the chord Qutehd & just foind out need an adaptor to use the coxial input. My main source of music will be through coxial. I dn't know why this is not mentioned in the manual or even in the WHF review. Am really disappionted. This is my first CHORD product & it's not a good start.

I just which CHORD would at least make mention of it in the manual that an adaptor is needed to play music through the coxial input.

May be it is suppose to come with an adaptor?... Cn't find one is my BOX, only usb cable.

Anyone got this product?

Take note if you buying this product.

Hi Native_bon

As you know i've had the Chordette QuteHD (DSD) DAC in for a few months now. Yes, a BNC adaptor is required unless the cable to be used with the coaxial inout is already terminated with a BNC connector. Your dealer or local electrical store should be able to supply you with BNC adaptor.

Anyway i'll mention this to Chord Electronics.

All the best

Oh thanx for the info Musicraft. But I must say, what a step up in sound quality definition & musicality. Am currently using the optical out from my conputer. This thing is so dam musical. If this how chord sounds then I should be looking at thier amps nxt.

Hey guys am still getting to see how the chord qutehd settles dwn in my system. It's very musical but finding it a bit lean in the treble department. May be am used to the treble being coloured. But would give it a few more days, then make up my mind.

It could well be other parts of my system needs attention. Having said that, i get a richer treble response from The audiolab M-DAC, but it's no way as musical as the Chord. :?

hi, in my experience the optical and usb input of the qute is good.

But to get the real potential out of this dac, you should really try out the coax input.

Btw there are some very good and affordable usb to spdif converters ( low jitter, xmos ) on market right now.

Hi,

Maybe you're using the sdpif output directly from your computer?

You should be albe to get a very rich and full sound of this dac.

In case it helps to get another viewpoint, I have always found Chord DACs to be very detailed, but too forward and a little aggressive for my taste (though tbf, I haven't heard this one).

I don't say this necessarily to put you off, but if the DAC sounds thin in the treble through your Sonus Fabers, it may not be the best choice. As you say, trust your ears and only take the plunge if you have no nagging doubts.

It will be interesting to see what you decide.

Ingeresting to hear your views on this DAC but I think you are being a bit harsh criticising Chord for not including a BNC coax cable. An adaptor is not required as you can always use an RCA to BNC lead. BNC is used in some DACSs for the SPDIF signal so as your experience shows, you should always check beforehand. The images on the Chord website show the BNC and the manual mentions it also, although interestingly the web data sheet does not. Anyhow ... Look forward to your review ... Happy listening!

I checked the manual there was no mention of the need of an adaptor. Cause i just checked again, & nothing of such in the box.

If u read earlier on in the thread someone else said he made mention of it to chord about the adaptor. So it's either you talking about another product.

Hey guys I have returned the Chord HD DAC. I did like the musicality, but sounded a bit thin in my system. I finish doing up my new living room so its time to upgrage the amp.. I had a listen again to musical fidelity M6550i. This is the first amp I have listen to in a long time that shows a very significant jump in sound quality. It's musical, smooth & just sounds right. Time & time again when i listen to reviewed amps i find time & time again just too in ur face. The mid range & treble never sounds right. Then some just sound dull inorder not to sound bright.

I listen to a lot of Jazz, soul & World muzic. so just hoping dn't sound to warm with my cremona's speakers.

Look like it's time to safe for this beast.

Do you mean the M6500i?

You should also listen to the AMS 35i......just to rule it out.

Hi Native_bon

If budget allows then i think that you should also consider Plinius SA-103 and SB-301 power amplifiers fed directly by the M-DAC :)

ok would have a look at that as well. Never really had a listen to any of the Plinius hifi yet

I think the SA-103 is a good suggestion which you should try if poss, as it's sound is likely to meet your criteria.
