hi and thx for replying basically i want to know how to properly configure my KEF speakers with my amp which is the onkyo 608, i also have the ps3 FAT version equiped with an a LG 47LY9 TV plus i've got Sky+HD also.

I want to know the proper crossover Freq, calibration and optimium film refernce volume.

I've also done the auto setup using Audyessy but i think it made the subwoofer to overpowered compared to the 3005 sat speakers

I think thats all atm

Thanks advance

Just so you know the old style ps3 doesnt have the correct HDMI port to be able to pass through bitrate DTS-HD and has to convert the signal to PCM instead

Hmm i do understand that the phat version of the ps3 doesnt have the correct HDMI chipset for bitstreaming audio, but the information that i need is to how to properly configure these kef speakers so that i can enjoy them. One of my friends has the same setup and his system sound bloody fantastic compared to mine.

I only brought my Kef speakerrs a week ago and still trying to find the right settings.

Srry for being a noob

Welcome to the forums!

A lot of people find that Audyssey can make the sub a bit too forward and the Onkyo's can be quite in your face as well. If you don't like it, dial the sub volume back a bit. Having said that, it's worth while making sure you haven't got your sub sitting somewhere that will make it boomy, like in the corner of a room - you might want to adjust it's position and re-run the setup.

Regarding the sub. Physically set the crossover knob on it to it's highest setting, to let the amp take care of the crossover. Off the top of my head the crossover frequency for the kef 3005 should be set to 120Hz, like all their eggs. This should be set on the amp when you set the speaker sizes as small.

No need to appologise, everyone on here would have been new to this at some point.

Where abouts in the room have you placed the Sub, is it in a corner.

I normally use the auto setup and then use a sound meter to tweak the settings further, I think most auto setup routines set the rear speakers too high and the sub abit over powering.

If the sub is too much for you the volume can be lowered in the menu on your amp, unfortunately I am not familiar with your amp.

Hi mike and thx for replying my my room is split into two, living room and dinning room, my sub is placed near the top right left corner block off my a pillar, and that pillar is apart of my living room also which is near the fronts speakers and the tv.

if thats the problem then i think i might need to turn down the volume behind the sub.

here is a imaged of the subwoofer that i have
