Hi looking for some help. I am trying to attach the Wii to the Yamaha V1065. I had the Yamaha 863 and it was no problem but I can't get the sound and picture on the one channel!!

I am using a Wii cable with component video and 2 channel steroe connection. I plugged the component into AV2. I was then left with the left and right audio cables. I have tried these in all the other audio sockets starting with Audio 2 which i though would work with the AV2 selection. I can get picture on AV2 and sound on audio 2!! Can anyone please tell me how I get picture and sound on the one selection.

Thanks

Hi there Dublin HiFi,

I am pretty certain you have/can assign audio to certain video inputs. I will see if I can locate an online manual, maybe I can offer a better solution then.

Be back in touch soon.

It sounds like you're actually using a COMPOSITE lead, with one video and two audio outs. This won't give you as good quality as a proper component lead, which has three video and two audio outs. You can buy these specially for your Wii - they're not included as standard.

It wasn't possible to pair inputs on your amp when it first appeared, but Yamaha provided a firmware update to solve this problem. With luck, you have this already and you'll be able to combine the component input with one of the stereo audio ins.

Hi Sorreltiger,

I actually have the component lead with the 3 video and 2 audio outs. It worked on the 863 but doesn't work on the V1065. Excuse my ignorance but whats a firmware update and how can I get one? Or can anyone tell me how I can pair the inputs as the receiver manual doesn't seem to explain how I can pair them.

Thanks

Sorry - I hope you don't think I was being patronising!

Of course, you may have the latest firmware already. It was introduced to allow Sky+HD viewers to pair HDMI with optical - and, for Wii players, Component and stereo phono! You can download the update from here if you need it:

http://development.lightmaker.com/yamaha_audio/downloads/software/

It then goes on a USB stick. To update the receiver:

1. Power on the amp holding the straight button down
2. Turn the program knob one to the left to see what version you are running.

3. Turn the program knob two to the left to upgrade firmware via USB.

There is also a manual addendum to tell you how to pair the inputs. You should be able to Google it and download it. Perhaps someone else who has this amp can help?
