Being a complete novice to home cinema ( all kit a week old ) I'm having problems with speaker set up.

Sony amp manual page 45 says - volume to halfway and crossover freq to max before auto calibration, whereas cube 2 manual says - set sub freq to 120 Hz on the reciever and "ensure the volume AND crossover freq on rear of sub are set to max"

How do you set 120hz on the reciever, I cannot find a way of changing the Sub freq in the speaker settings menu - crossover freq - it's just front, centre and surround, no sub! Can you change the sub freq with this amp, or is it just me?

When auto set up is completed ( the sony manual way ) the speakers are set at large and Kef say they must be set as small, so I changed them in manual set up. The crossover value of the speakers is 120Hz after auto set up, is this right?

I can change everything in the manual speaker set up or just start again, but with which initial setting for the sub, the Sony or Kef set up?

Kit just used for Blue Ray and Virgin TV only. music comes from my old Arcam Alpha 9, Arcam CD73 and Monitor Audio RS6, as it sounds so much better, but if the speakers are set up correctly maybe it's time to sell the HIFi, but I doubt it

On page 70 of the Sony manual, it says how to set up the cross over frequency for each speaker. Setting each speaker to 120 Hz is the same as setting the sub at 120 Hz surely....all sound below 120 will be directed to the sub? However, having this amp myself partnered with KEF speakers, I just followed the Sony advice, used auto calibration and now enjoy balanced surround sound without worrying about the individual speaker settings. Just make sure you place the calibration mic where your head would be. The amp then makes all the necessary adjustments.
