Hi all

I am hoping you guys can help me please.

I am looking to setup a sound system for my home cinema setup but am not sure how to go about it or what system to get.

I want to get one with a sound bar, but the is an issue with inputs..

My tv had 2 hmdi ports, I have xbox (hmdi out optical out), htpc (hmdi out), blu ray player (hdmi out) and tv box (hmdi out optical out).

How can i loop all these through a sound system?

Ii was thinking i could hook 3 hmdi into a sound sytem and have that go into one of the hdmi ports on tv, then put my xbox direct to tv and the optical out to the sound system.

I really not sure how to do this and I really appreciate your help. If you know a system that can do this it would be great, my budget is €500 or so.

Any recommendations for any particular models?

cheers

Hello mel2ibiza,

Welcome to the forum! But a few questions to you, just to clariy. First, where in Europe are you. Yes, I know that your username says Ibiza, but I don't want to assume anything! Second, do you already have loudspeakers? Third, do you have a surround-sound receiver (or amplifier)? Fourth, how big is your room?

For your budget, I think that you will struggle to get what you need, which judging by the four devices that you have listed and their outputs, is a receiver with at least four HMDI inputs, plus some sort of loudspeaker set. All your devices would send their HDMI outputs to the receiver. You would then have a single HDMI output from the receiver to your televison.

But the cheapest good receiver that I can think of is the Yamaha RX-V375 http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/yamaha/rxv375/yama-rxv375-blk, but that costs £169 in Britain. I don't know if it is available where you are.

The remaining money would be spent on loudspeakers. I don't know about soundbars, but Richer Sounds do various 5.1 speaker packages, here http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separates/speakers/speaker-packages. Again, at your budget, you will have to settle for a quite basic package.

Hi Son_of_SJ

Thanks a million for your reply.

Im in ireland, I have nothing at all am starting from scratch. The room I am looking to set this up in is 7 X 8 metres in size (guessing, its not a massive room by any means, just regular liviing room).

That receiver looks perfect, seems to tick all the boxes thanks a million.

Essentially once i get the receiver I can use the specs for that to get speakers and or a soundbar to suit that setup?

You might want to measure that, 7x8m is a HUGE room! My living and dining rooms are about 5x5m and most people say what a good size they are!
