Stop watching football?ÿ

He told me it was football because i suppose theres alot more motion and he watched it more than most programs therefore it was noticed more but it did effect viewing on other programs aswell, so my question is are problems with dead pixels, missing pixels, screenburn, whatever it maybe fixable or not ?

Do have a clever answer for the second part of my question with regards to the panasonic where sometimes i see like a red line around a face when the colour a bit dark ?

Some problems are fixable. Others aren't (or at least not without and engineer and spares).

Your problem could be a ringing, a common artifact of video scaling and sharpening, even on very expensive external video processors. Try turning down your TV's sharpness control. Even set at '0' my Pioneer applies some sharpening. It works best at -2 to -3. Panasonics may work differently but bear in mind that '0' sharpening doesn't necessarily mean 'off'. It may also help to turn off noise reduction and other gimmicky image processing.

Are these lines / rings always red or just around flesh tones? If they look red or pink against a white or grey object, then your colour setting probably needs adjusting. On my Pioneer less red means turning colour down. ÿ

Screen burn is permanent and requires replacement of the panel. But it's actually quite rare if your TV's contrast is set correctly. It's quite common for plasmas to show a ghost image after showing the same image for a long time, but if you switch to another image (ideally one with lots of motion) it'll usually go away. Playing static works well for this.

Dead or stuck pixels probably require replacement of the panel, although most people won't notice them most of the time. It's only really when you look at a single block of the same colourÿ(like a football pitch) that they stand out.

Yes the lines are as you describe mainly around the face and are red, you can occaisonally see like a ripple effect in red when the picture is not quite black. I have used the THX optimizer although i haven't got the THX glasses, also i haven't got any picture enhancing settings on, but i will try turning sharpness down, thanks for your help.
