Help with Impedance?

Hello,
I am looking at buying either a Sony STRDH810 or an Onkyo SR508 (still can't decide) and I plan on temporarily using some old Samsung 5.1 speakers which say they have an impedance of 3 Ohms. Boths amps say they have an impedance of upto 8 ohms. Will the speakers work fine with the amps?

Probably not. The low impedance of the speakers could well cause the protection circuits on the amps to trip out. Basically, the lower the impedance, the more energy flows out into the speaker from the amp, and if the power supplies in the amp can't replenish the energy fast enough, problems arise.

Thanks Andrew, I'll just have to wait until I can afford my Q Acoustics aswell!
