Help with Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 100 USB 2.0

Hi

I have just picked up a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 100

Hooked it up to my pc (windows 8, jriver player, 5M usb lead)

All files play fine using the standard USB 1 settings, upto 96khz files

However, when trying to install USB 2.0, it all goes wrong

Have set the DAC into USB 2.0 mode

Have downloaded USB 2.0 from CA website (version 1.67) and then updated the firmware

Back to Jriver and play any music file (flac 44.1/96/192) and I do hear the music, however, it also has what I can only describe as digital static, cracking and popping, that just doesnt stop

Reverting back to USB 1 and the problem disappears

I cant see it that my usb lead is too long, but, could it be this ?

Any suggestions would be great

All sorted, USB lead was to blame, swapped for another and all worked just as it should

Can you give some idea how the dac 100 SQ is?How is the bottom end?

What are associated equipments? How would you describe the presentation of the dacmagic 100?
