My parents have just bought a Bose solo soundbar. It is to go with sky hd and a panasonic Blu ray. The tv is Pioneer pdp 4270XD. Basically, I want to be able to play sound through the sound bar on both tv and Blu ray without unplugging either. The optical digital output on the tv seems to have no effect and when I use an optical splitter between sound bar, Blu ray and sky that doesn't work either. The splitter does work in my house though. Both work on the bar separately, but not together.

Thank you in advance.

Even though I can get sound from the Blu ray when it's only that connected? What about if I connect the Blu ray by optical and the sky to coaxial and just knock the one being used off?

I will try that though. I'm not there now though. Will try tomorrow.

That would work. What you want is an optical switch so you dont have to keep swapping the opticals over, if you wanted to stick with optical.

So something like this
